Oak Tree Inn

I had a great stay at this hotel by the loch. Parking is assigned for each room, which is a huge relief since street parking in the area can be quite challenging. There’s also an EV charging station available, making it very convenient for electric vehicle drivers. The food at the restaurant was exceptional — probably the best you can find on this side of the loch. The menu is diverse, and every dish I tried was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The views just outside the rooms are stunning, adding a calm, scenic touch to the stay. The staff were lovely and incredibly helpful, always making sure everything was perfect. The location is ideal for nature lovers, with plenty of trails and outdoor walks nearby. In the summer, there are also water activities available, which makes the area even more enjoyable. Overall, a fantastic place to stay — comfortable, scenic, and delicious in every way.

Had food here many times and always hits the spot. Staff very efficient and attentive and Tom playing the keyboard was just superb as usual. Reception staff were very easy to deal with, friendly, polite. Stayed in a superior pod it was nice, only disappointment was that the flooring in the room had gaps/separating and was bouncing in places. More disturbing thou was the dirty toilet pan. Someone had left a little present. Raised with reception who appeared shocked. Overall it was a nice place and staff were lovely.

Have to say that this is one of the most outstanding places we have ever been to the staff are fantastic Kirsty is so helpful as are all the staff. Rooms are immaculate, music on a Sunday afternoon is great as are the meals. Well worth a visit. Peter & Irene

Lovely drive, hotel in a beautiful spot, housed in a cottage flat, neat, clean, cozee, great view of Loch. Bar well stocked, friendly staff, lunch snacks great. Booked a table for meal, loved the log fire, But as country full of dogs(5). Food itself not that great but adequate. Breakie in morning buffet, again adequate. Will return for the bonhomie

First time staying here, booked last minute for something to do on the 27th December. Can’t fault the place at all, we stayed in a standard pod (number2) excellent! Dinner was delicious, drinks were great and the buffet breakfast was class! I would recommend to anyone, don’t think about it, just do it! The woman who works on reception is a credit to the hotel, thanks again.

We stayed in James 32 for 2 nights. Room was amazing. Spotlessly clean. Underfloorheating in bathroom great. Food was brill. Both at breakfast and dinner great choice. Staff couldn't not have been any more helpful. Very friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend to anyone and we will definitely be back again

Review – The Oak Tree Inn, Balmaha We stayed at The Oak Tree Inn for a weekend break to celebrate my 50th birthday at the start of January, during a very wet and wild weekend with an amber weather warning — and it couldn’t have been more perfect. From the moment we arrived, the staff were exceptional. They knew my name, knew it was my birthday, and every member of the team made us feel genuinely welcomed and looked after. The personal touch throughout the whole stay was outstanding and made the weekend feel really special. We spent the first evening enjoying dinner and drinks by the roaring log fire — exactly what you want when the weather outside is miserable. The atmosphere was warm, relaxed and cosy. The food was absolutely delicious: the Korean cauliflower was outstanding, and the chicken pie was just divine. Our room was beautiful — spotlessly clean, comfortable and quiet, and breakfast the next morning was one of the best buffet breakfasts I’ve had anywhere, with excellent choice and quality. On the Sunday, my family surprised me by joining us for lunch, and the hotel accommodated 15 of us effortlessly in the main restaurant. There was live music from Tom Urie, the well-known Scottish comedian and actor, who made the afternoon even more memorable. We also did the Drymen pub crawl and the hotel arranged transport for us and then picked us up again afterwards — such a thoughtful and stress-free service. The welcome, warmth and friendliness of the staff is quintessentially Scottish. It’s brilliant value, beautifully run, and absolutely perfect for a relaxed, special weekend away. I honestly can’t fault a single thing. Amazing place, amazing staff, amazing food and drink. Thank you to everyone at The Oak Tree Inn for making my 50th so unforgettable. — Shelley Arthur

We had such a lovely time at The Oak Tree! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff couldn’t have been kinder or more attentive. Our food was delicious, fresh ingredients, beautifully cooked, and full of flavour. It’s the kind of place where you immediately feel relaxed. We’ll definitely be coming back again soon!

Lovely hotel, upgraded to a room in the Amber cottage with spectacular views across the Loch. Receptionist was friendly and process was straightforward. We received our token for a welcome drink and confirmed the.dinner reservation The bar was cosy with a roaring fire and live music later in the afternoon. Dinner was very good with a varied menu for food and drinks. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice with good quality produce. Would definitely recommend A+

We stayed a few nights at one of the pods and visited the restaurant for breakfasts and dinners. Overall would highly recommend, the food is really good and the accommodation is fab. The atmosphere is really lovely. There was an incident however with allergies, suffice to say they got something terribly wrong, however, they were really apologetic and how they reacted showed true character. Staff were absolutely great, welcoming and lovely. Despite everything that happened I look forward to one day visiting again!
